Not sure when it began. The digital age? Record companies could make more money rereleasing albums and artists on CD. Why invest in the unproven. There is a pandemic of risk averse behaviour across the arts. NFTs. As a serious collector of vinyl since my childhood I find the recent RSD releases cynical and exploitative. They should be promoting new artists but instead the releases are cynical and exploitative. Limited coloured vinyl releases of Platinum albums. Not sure PIL could happen in the current environment. Looking forward to the new Adele album. I know exactly what I'm getting.

thanks for looking buddy..... fear I think creates risk-averse behavior and among younger demographic who typically create fresh music etc there is a lot of angst. When this reaches boiling point ie-- when they realize that boomers have completely screwed them-- there will be a revolution... let's hope it's just within culture. I'm looking forward to Adele album to-- in the same way I look forward to doing my accounts.
